DoCo Box Lacrosse is coming.
DoCo is coming…this winter. Box lacrosse is the indoor, Canadian version of the game we all know and love. The tighter confines, the quicker pace, and the unpredictability of the ball’s bounces make Box lacrosse so appealing. I played field lacrosse my whole life, not knowing the differences between indoor and outdoor (besides the different positions, and playing field, the smaller nets, and some other obvious dissimilarities). After languishing on practice squads and getting cut by teams, I was fortunate enough to make the Colorado Mammoth as an open tryout contestant.
What I learned during my 9 seasons with the Mammoth was that Box lacrosse is a different language. It’s not one that you can teach if you haven’t struggled through the growing pains associated with the acquisition of anything new and worthwhile. I know the struggles of American lacrosse players who step into the box and are frustrated that their tried and true techniques that they learned on the field aren’t leading to positive results. I also know that once I did “learn the game” I went from an average lacrosse player to an MLL All-Pro and and my number was retired by the Colorado Mammoth. I credit my professional lacrosse longevity (21 professional seasons) to Box Lacrosse.
DoCo Lacrosse is planning a 6 session Box introduction. We won’t be playing outdoor inside. We will be giving true box lacrosse instruction.
The Goal – To develop players who will try out for our upcoming Devils Box team that will travel and compete in national tournaments like our field teams do already.
